Classics vs Harry Potter #5: Circe

COMIC –  Chocolate Frog ‘Famous Witch and Wizard’ Cards: Circe the Sorceress (check the site for new comic!)

Originally drawn for the Iris Classics Centre’s Festival of Imagined Worlds, J K Rowling Section. The author studied French with Classics at Exeter University, and these comics are devised to explore the background of the original character being cited. In this case, Circe is presented as one of the first wand-users, using transfigurations spells to turn muggles into pigs – for fun! Would she have been in Slytherin? And also, was the mysterious ‘moly’ root given to Odysseus by Hermes actually a mandrake? Discussions welcome!
